Documentary Work

Georgann Eubanks and Donna Campbell are the principals of the documentary production firm, Minnow Media. We choose projects based on the following guidelines:

1. To preserve the voices and stories of individuals, communities, sites, and events that are on the verge of of dramatic change or silence; and,

2. To enrich public discussion around issues of individual growth and social transformation.

Our most recent projects include:

North Carolina Giving: Philanthropy across Cultures and Communities
In this one hour documentary, we present stories from communities all across the state that lift up the ways in which NC philanthropy reflects our differences across cultures and experiences and will thus provide a broader lens on the practice of giving. Our ultimate goal is to celebrate all the ways that North Carolinians share their time, talent, and treasure across every region of the state. Our sponsoring partner in this project, NC Gives, is an organization that seeks to celebrate, connect, inspire, and grow the giving in North Carolina by sharing stories, models and tools, particularly among communities of color, women, and young people. Meinrad Craighead: Praying with Images -- an hour-long introduction to the lifelong pilgrimage of New Mexico artist Meinrad Craighead and her mystical encounters with the Divine Feminine. As she explains the dreams and shamanic journeys that have often been the inspiration for her art, viewers will be introduced to images of the Divine Mother that have appeared around the globe throughout human history.

The Why Nots -- a half-hour documentary about a North Carolina slow pitch softball team's quest to win the National Senior Games in 2008. Among the Why Nots' sixteen players are several grandmothers, two military veterans, a farmer, a software designer, a longtime parks and recreation coordinator and referee, a tire saleswoman, a former homebuilder who now works at Lowe's, and a tax preparer. None have drifted too far from their roots in Burlington, North Carolina. More than one is a cancer survivor. Many are caring for aging parents or ailing partners. The players, once members of a semi-pro team in the 1970s, range in age from 55 to 77.
